Performing & Visual Arts

“Every child is an artist...” – Pablo Picasso

The Art room is a busy, welcoming and creative environment. Mr Watson is our much-adored Art teacher who delivers a high quality program which inspires young and old artist alike! It is one the special places in our school.  Children are welcome to join the Art Club which runs in Terms 2 and 3 . The Art Show in Term 4 is another highlight and is an exceptionally successful event. It is exciting and very encouraging to see so many visitors attracted to the show over a number of days. The quality of work is always outstanding.

Art Incursions are a terrific part of our program. Recently, our Year 3 students visited the Duldig Ceramic Gallery in Malvern, Year 4 did a cartooning workshop with an professional artist and Year 5 & 6 did limestone sculpture with Jenny Whiteside.

The School's musical production takes place in Term 3. The Art department supplies many of the props and sets for this event and there is an open invitation for helping hands from both students and parents who are handy with a paintbrush to drop in and share their expertise.

Performing Arts

All children love a story and at CCGS we foster this love through our performing arts program. From short skits in assembly and soirees to full musical productions (such as The Lion King and Little Mermaid), the children are encouraged to explore their imaginations in a creative and collaborative environment. Our children also have the opportunity to participate in a drama program as an extra-curricular activity.

Olivia Newton-John Performing Arts Scholarship

The Olivia Newton-John Performing Arts Scholarship is an annual prize awarded to a child in Year 4.  Olivia attended Christ Church Grammar School and has lent her support to this award.  Interested students are invited to apply and will be required to memorise a poem, read some prose and perform a piece of their choice in front of their peers and an adjudicator. The scholarship will be held in Term 3 each year.  Enquiries about this may be made to the Registrar
