The library program has been designed to be a continuum which is integrated into the curriculum.

Christ Church Grammar School Library

The Library at Christ Church Grammar School continues to be a student- centred hub of learning and vibrant activity.

The library is central to implementing, enriching and supporting the teaching and learning program of our School. It provides access to knowledge, experiences and ideas and supports us in supporting an information literate community. The library provides an exciting, interesting, print-rich environment where students are welcomed and feel comfortable and where reading is promoted and encouraged. Our library program provides access to skill appropriate texts that support student learning in all curriculum areas. The Library provides access for students, staff and the school community to current, and quality collections of books, non-book and other print media materials.

Students from  Prep to Year 6 have a 30 - 60 minute Library lesson each week with the Teacher-Librarian which builds on the skills and knowledge previously learnt. 

Book Week

Every year, CCGS participates in the Australian Children’s Book Council’s Book Week. The celebration of Book Week is always action packed and fun. Authors and illustrators are invited to visit our school and the children have the opportunity to purchase books at the Book Fair.  The highlight, as always, is the Book Week Parade.

The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge and CCGS 100 CLUB

Every year, our students participate in the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge.  Our school families support the challenge by sharing books with their children and assisting with recording the books on the website.  The CCGS 100 Club recognises students for reading 100 books for the Premiers’ Reading Challenge.   

Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

Christ Church Grammar school acknowledges that in an ever changing world the relevant and meaningful use and application of digital technologies is essential for all students commencing or continuing their formal education as ‘digital citizens’. 

Information and Communication Technology is deemed a General Capability in the new Australian Curriculum and is now a dimension that will be addressed explicitly in the content of a Learning Area. 

The ICT capability learning continuum is organised into five interrelated elements:

• Applying social and ethical protocols and practices when using ICT

• Investigating with ICT

• Creating with ICT

• Communicating with ICT

• Managing and operating ICT

These five interrelated element will be basis of all our work in information technology throughout the School and will provide context and direction for any future developments in ICT. Students from P-3 will be timetabled for weekly sessions where their learning will be directly linked to the five elements above.
