Co-curricular activities are an essential part of a child's success in their education.

Our Co-curricular Program
Chess Club

The Christ Church Grammar School Chess Club is operated on a Wednesday morning before School. Students in Years Prep to Year 2 have been meeting as our junior section and students from Years 3 - 6 forming our senior section. Our students are trained each week by coaches from Chess Ideas (Australia). The expert staff is known in the Victorian Chess Community. Our students participate in Inter-School Chess competitions throughout the year.

Knitting Club 

Knitting Club is held in Term 3. Students have a great time learning the skills of knitting from grandparents, parents and staff. A lovely time is had each Wednesday lunchtime in the Library. 

Art Club 

Art Club runs in Term 2 and 3 and is a very sort after club to join. Many children enjoy spending some of their free time working on individual and group art projects and many of these are displayed throughout the School and at the Art Show.  

French Club

This club gives an opportunity for children to start learning French. Children enjoy a practical and fun introduction to French conversation concentrating on key vocab through singing and speaking. Children in Years 4 to 6 alternate their lesson at theFrench Fantasies cafe where they are able to try out their phrases with the French staff.

Computer Coding Club

Coding is run after school by external provider Invent the World offering a computer course for children from Year 3 to 6 based around programming, engineering, robotics and game design.

Communication and Drama Club

Drama and Communications is offered after school to Years 2 and 3 combined and Years 4 to 6 combined. All staff are qualified International Speech and Drama Teachers who have a strong belief and respect for students to be confident, positive communicators with a love and understanding of drama and the performance crafts.


Introducing school children to gymnastics and showing them the benefits of building strong foundations through gymnastics skills. This club is run after school by former Olympian and World Champion, Ashleigh Brennan. Gymnastics is a fun and challenging sport that builds strong foundations and fundamental movement patterns as well as coordination and partner work. Gymnastics is a great basis to build on for other sports and activities. Classes are divided into Kinder, Prep, Year 1-2, and Year 3-6 groups.

Karate, Latin and Homework Clubs

These clubs are all offered by external providers (Will need to find out more info if we are to include)

Girls’ Club

Girls’ club is held on Wednesday lunchtimes during Terms 2 and 3.  All girls from Prep to Year 6 are invited to attend. The purpose of Girls’ club is to encourage cross-age friendship within the school and provide girls with an opportunity to enjoy various craft activities with their friends.


Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment. The mindfulness programme runs on a Thursday lunchtime providing a quiet, safe and supportive environment for children to relax and to feel happy. Children participate in a modern mediation using the ‘smiling mind’ app based program and enjoy activities such as yoga, boxing, colouring in, origami, gratitude box/ challenges, making stress balls, bubbles and many more engaging activities.  

Netball Club

Children from Year 2-6 engage in Netball skills on a Monday lunchtime. Children participate in skill development improving technique and learn about strategies to improve game play. Activities are engaging for children and involve cooperation, teamwork and sportsmanship.
